Dr. Di Toro has worked in the field of mental health for over 20 years. Her personal and professional experience has to lead her to a holistic practice of psychotherapy. She believes in the power of nature and a person’s ability to restore the balance of body, mind, and spirit. Dr. Di Toro enjoys teaching the practices of self-compassion and mindfulness. Her unique paradigm of introductory psychology integrates the power of nature, embodiment, and food as medicine. Integrative approaches are offered unique to each individual. She works to inspire empowerment providing education, guidance through love, and empathic relationship to help others reconnect with themselves and live fully integrated, more joy-filled authentic lives. She has expertise on the developmental impact of trauma and brings together the heart and science of psychology.

She has worked as a researcher and clinician in inpatient and outpatient settings (including UCSD and the VA) and focused on trauma, grief, addiction, depression, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and forensic psychology and has worked with victims of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse.

Dr. Di Toro received a B.A. from Lehigh University in Psychology and Health & Human Development, an M.S. degree from SDSU in Gerontology (the study of aging), and an M.A. degree and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology.
